Experience the magic of Venice in a beautiful Venetian palazzo. This spacious Appartamento Nobile is located on the second floor (piano nobile) of the striking 16th century Palazzo Salvioni, believed to be the work of prominent Venetian architect, Jacopo Sansovino. The palazzo overlooks the Rio della Pietà, a lovely Venetian "water street." A tiny passageway along the Salizzada dei Greci leads to the entrance, if you arrive on foot; or, you can take a water taxi right to the red-carpet canal entrance.

The Castello district is a relatively quiet area in the eastern part of Venice. A short walk (about six minutes) leads to St. Mark's Square. Visit the nearby Arsenal, where the ships of the Venetian Empire were built, and the Museo Storica Navale, possibly the best naval museum in Italy. Head west along the Riva degli Schiavoni to catch a glimpse of the famous Bridge of Sighs before reaching Piazza San Marco. Admire the grandeur of the extravagant Basilica di San Marco or climb to the top of the Campanile for a bird's eye view over the city. On a clear day, you can see as far as the spectacular Dolomite Mountains.

From the entry level, a grand carpeted staircase leads to the apartment, As soon as you enter, the impressive grand salon takes your breath away with its frescoed 18-foot ceiling and beautiful Venetian glass chandelier. The room is sumptuous and quintessentially Venetian, but also comfortable. Two terraces grace either end of the room; one overlooks the canal and Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore, and the other overlooks the palazzo garden which is in an interior courtyard.

All of the bedrooms are air-conditioned. All of the rooms except the main salon have solid wood shutters that make full darkness if closed at night.

On the ground floor, separate from the apartment, is a laundry room with washer and dryer.

Please note that this apartment does not have an elevator so it is not accessible for anyone with a problem with stairs.

Amenities: luxury linens and bathrobes, satellite TV, telephone, wireless Internet access, access to washer & dryer (or better yet to the maid who can be asked to do your personal laundry for a tip), wall safe, dishwasher, micorwave, American coffee maker.
