The Cannaregio sestiere of Central Venice is a lively district with a very authentic Venetian atmosphere. Visit the Church of San Giobbe, decorated with the works of Tuscan artists like Luca della Robbia, and the Ca' d'Oro, considered to be the most striking example of Venetian Gothic architecture. At the heart of Cannaregio is the Ghetto, where the entire Jewish population of Venice was required to live from sunset to sunrise for almost three hundred years. Visit the beach or the islands of Murano, Burano, Torcello, and San Michele. Explore one of the world's most unique cities on foot or by vaporetto (Venetian water bus). It stops just across the canal from the apartment, putting San Marco and all of the many attractions of Venice at your doorstep. You will feel like a native as you shop in open-air markets and dine in small local restaurants. The Isabella Apartment is located just a few meters from the Fondamenta di Cannaregio. The train station is a ten minute walk or ride, and there are food shops, coffee bars, a post office and a variety of restaurants within five minutes' walk. Delicious meals (dine-in or carry-out) can be found at Trattoria Marisa, just next to the apartment. A forged iron gate leads to a small courtyard private to the Isabella Apartment. There are tables and chairs in the courtyard for relaxing after a day of exploring. The apartment is part of a gated property, formerly the "barchesse" ("wing") of a Palazzo. The living room has a sofa that converts to a sofa bed for one additional guest, as well as comfortable armchairs and TV. The windows of the living room face the private garden of the Lucia Apartment, although the garden is not accessible unless the two apartments are rented together. The dining area has a table that seats four, and the efficient kitchen corner is outfitted with a small fridge, oven, kettle, and gas range. The Isabella Apartment has one bedroom with twin beds (can not be joined). There is one bathroom, with a tub and hand held shower attachment. Fans are available for the warmer months. The apartment has cental heat for cooler months. Carnivale is a wonderful time to visit, when Venice is misty and magical and the streets are full of elegant costumes and mimes. The Isabella Apartment can be rented together with the Lucia Apartment, just across the garden. |
