 Explore the canals of Venice, and visit Verona, with its grand arena, where opera is still performed. Padua is 30 minutes west of Venice, and some of the great Palladian villas line the banks of the Brenta River. Vicenza, well-known by jewelers the world over, is an architectural marvel. To the north are the Dolomite Mountains, Cortina and the Asiago plateau. To the east are the beaches of Caorle, Jesolo and Venice, and some Italy’s most famous spas, Albano and Montegrotto. Lake Garda is near Verona and the Valpolicella, a famous wine-producing area. One of our favorite hill villages is Asolo, a jewel of a town where Robert Browning stayed.
