The Francesca Apartment is located in the heart of Assisi, on the noble (second) floor of a palazzo dating back to the 17th century and set in front of the majestic Cathedral of San Rufino. The palazzo, among the most beautiful in Assisi, has a stone façade, vaulted ceilings, and ancient stairways, all restored with great care. This 200 square meter apartment sleeps up to six people in three double bedrooms and three bathrooms, making this a great choice for three couples traveling together.
The entrance hall leads to a double bedroom with a view of the cathedral and an adjoining bathroom (with shower). The dining room has a table for eight, and a double living room offers comfortable seating and a lovely balcony with a view of the piazza and the cathedral. A second double bedroom has an adjoining bathroom (with tub), and the third double bedroom is next to a bathroom (with shower). The spacious, fully equipped kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. It adjoins a second dining room with stone walls that opens to an interior courtyard, where a private little path inside the palazzo leads you to the rose garden. While the apartment gives the feeling of being in the heart of a medieval town, the garden, with a view of Rocca Maggiore, makes you feel like you are in the countryside! Outdoor furniture provides a place for dining al fresco or just to relax and enjoy the view. There is a small above-ground swimming pool (the only pool in Assisi).The garden and pool are shared with four other apartments located in the palazzo.
A road-cleaning service passes each morning at 6:45 along the road where one of the bedrooms has a window, so we don’t recommend using this bedroom if you are a late sleeper. Also, be aware that the bells of Saint Rufino ring at noon and again at 8 pm. The apartment has a television with Italian channels and a telephone that can be used for local calls.
A car is not necessary. You can walk to markets, restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops, as well as to all of the important works of art that Assisi has to offer.
