Podere della Sorgente, located at the foot of Mount Cetona, is set on a hill with lovely views over the garden and vast countryside. An authentic stone farmhouse built in the ancient style of Tuscany, it has been beautifully restored and is a remarkable place, not only because of its privacy and views, but also because of the natural hot spring that feeds the swimming pool, an unusual feature anywhere in the world. The location in southeastern Tuscany (near the border of Umbria) is perfect for exploring Montalcino, Montepulciano, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto and all of the other enchanting towns in Umbria and south central Tuscany; yet it is possible to travel north to Florence or south to Rome by rail in just over an hour from nearby Chiusi, just 25 km (15 mi.) away. The Fonteverde Spa, named best spa in Italy in Spa Finder Readers' Choice Awards, is 3 km away. Arrange for beauty and health treatments at the spa or relax in the same thermal waters right in your own back yard. The lovely village of San Casciano dei Bagni is just 4 km away, with a full range of shops. Enjoy your morning cappuccino at one of our favorite coffee bars, or dine at a local restaurant after passing the afternoon by the pool. This is a beautiful region, still relatively undiscovered by tourists. The farmhouse (4000 sq. ft.) is gracious and comfortable, with the warm welcome of a real family home. Upon entering the foyer or any of the four living rooms on the first floor, you immediately feel the love and caring of the Italian family who lived here. One of the sitting rooms has satellite TV and telephone. The heart of the farmhouse is its charming, fully equipped country kitchen, with a dishwasher, large breakfast table, and huge fireplace. There is a light and welcoming dining room with a fireplace on this floor, as well as an office, powder room, and a large pantry with a washing machine. Upstairs is a library with high ceilings, easy chairs, and a television. Of the five bedrooms on this floor, three have queen-sized beds (one of which has an en suite bath with shower over tub), one has a three quarter-sized bed (best for one person), and the fifth has two twin beds (an extra bed can be added). There are two more bathrooms on this floor, one with a shower and the other with shower over tub. The villa is equipped with a mobile telephone and a mobile connect card which can be used to connect your laptop to the Internet wirelessly. Spacious lawns lead to the unique swimming pool. There is even an ancient little building containing the original hot tub. Water can be channeled into it during the off-season in the morning, and the house and water will be warm by late afternoon. Podere della Sorgente is ideal for a group of friends of a large family group wanting to relax in lovely, comfortable surroundings. The delightful English-speaking owner lives nearby. She studied architectural history and is available to take guests on informal tours of Siena, Pienza, or Montepulciano. |
