| Casa Serena's location, near the border of Umbria, makes it a perfect base for exploring destinations like Montalcino, Montepulciano, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto, as well as many enchanting hill towns and attractions of Umbria. This is an area that offers hot springs, ancient hill towns, fine restaurants, and a rural yet central location. San Casciano dei Bagni is just a few kilometers away, with charming shops, coffee bars, and restaurants. Arrange for health and beauty treatments at the renowned Fonteverde Spa. On days when you do not wish to drive, you can travel by train to Florence (just over an hour) or to Rome (1 hr) from nearby Chiusi, which is just 25 km (15 miles) away. Casa Serena is located in a small hamlet of five buildings. This farmhouse has been recently restored and redecorated, with new bathrooms and modern comforts such as satellite TV and unlimited wireless internet access. The house lacks a private garden, but tables and chairs are placed outside on a flagstone and grass patio. The road to Casa Serena is unpaved but well-kept for easy driving. The main entrance is on the second floor, accessed by an external staircase, typical of Tuscan farmhouses. The entry opens onto the dining room, which has a large open fireplace and a table that seats eight comfortably, as well as a sitting area with TV at one end. The dining room leads to a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave. There are two double bedrooms on this level. One has a queen bed and en suite bathroom with shower. The other has twin beds and an adjacent bathroom with tub. Downstairs, on the ground floor, there is a lovely sitting room with fireplace, TV and door to the patio, as well as a small kitchenette and two bedrooms. A short walk up a lovely cypress-lined path brings you to the pool, furnished with large umbrellas for shade, chaise lounges and chairs. There is a changing room below the pool, as well as a refrigerator for drinks and a separate bathroom. Although the pool is not immediately outside the house, its location is so breathtaking that it is well worth the short walk. It is safe for children because there is a gate with a lock at the start of the path. The pool is also used occasionally by the owners. Casa Serena is ideal for two families with children because there is separate living space on each floor. It is possible to enjoy meals together in the main dining room, but also to prepare a snack or watch TV without disturbing the guests on the other floor. |
