A jewel among villages, Cetona is one of our favorite hill towns, and Il Poggio is conveniently located just 1.5 kilometers from the village. Explore the perfectly preserved medieval streets that wind uphill to the walls of the old castle, the "Rocca." Cetona boasts two local museums: the Museo Civico documents human life on Monte Cetona from the Paleolithic to the Bronze Age, and the Belverde Archeological Park is the site of an important excavation. Cetona is perfectly positioned to allow leisurely exploration of southern Tuscany and Umbria by car, train or bicycle. Siena, Cortona, Arezzo, Pienza, Orvieto and Perugia are easy daytrip destinations. Not only does the nearby Chiusu (15 min.) can find themselves in Rome or Florence in about an hour. San Casciano dei Bagni (20 min.) offers a thermal health spa, Fonteverde, with its chic 35 degree thermal pool.

This elegant hilltop villa overlooks overlooks the Val di Chiana and the Umbrian hills. Set on 4.4 tranquil acres, Il Poggio has swimming pool (23 x 40 ft.) with diving board and a covered outdoor BBQ. Olive groves and a small orchard occupy the remainder of the fenced property.

The interiors have been decorated with rustic accents , from stucco walls and broad stone archways to beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. Two spacious living rooms are found on the ground floor — one with a fireplace, the other with a view over the pool. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a dishwasher, microwave and marble counters. It adjoins a pleasant eating area with its own small fireplace. This room opens onto the garden through a rose arbor, furnished with a marble table and chairs for al fresco dining. A ground floor dining area accommodates eighteen to twenty guests. There is one bathroom with tub on this level.

Four double bedrooms and two large bathrooms with separate showers and tubs are located upstairs.

Amenities at Il Poggio include TV, stereo with CD player, high-speed Interenet access, washing machine and telephone. The furniture includes some wonderful antiques. All of the bedrooms are air-conditioned, but the rest of the house does not have air-conditioning.

A few steps from the main house is a guest annex,with two independent apartments, Porcilaia and Rimessa, each with a small private patio and air-conditioned bedrooms.

Porcilaia consists of a living room with kitchenette and dining area, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower. (All rooms face onto the private garden.) Rimessa has a living room with kitchenette (with dishwasher and washing machine), a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and two bathrooms with shower. The cottages can only be rented together with the main villa.

If the main villa is rented by itself, the two cottages will remain empty.
