Massarosa is a restored stone house built around 1800. It has all the charm of an old country house but with new, modern appliances. Perched on a hill, the house faces a valley that leads down to Viareggio and the sea. The panoramic views from the pool and terrace are stunning, and on a clear day, it is possible to see islands in the sea from the terrace.

There is a tiny hamlet just 2 kilometers (1 ¼ miles) from the house, with a grocery shop, butcher and coffee bar. The closest village is four kilometers (2 ½ miles) away, with grocery shops, restaurant, pizzeria, post office, gas station and more. The beaches are 15-20 minutes away, lined with beach clubs where you can rent a cabana with a sun umbrella and deck chairs; usually there is a bar and restaurant on the beach.

Relax on a lounge chair by the swimming pool (16 x 6.5 mt/17.5 x 7 yds x 2.5 mt/8 ft maximum depth), with Roman steps and hydromassage. Visit the enchanting Romanesque church of Pieve a Elici, just a few kilometers away, where an important festival of classical music is held in July and August. Golf is available in Forte dei Marmi, half an hour away. Shopping outlets (D&G, Armani, Prada, etc) are an hour’s drive.
