You won't believe the location of this charming apartment! Literally a stone's throw from one of the city's most celebrated attractions, the Ponte Vecchio, the Vasari Apartment offers a peaceful retreat in close proximity to many of Florence's most renowned treasures. Cross the old bridge, with its shops of gold, to the Oltrarno, where the Vasari is located. It's quieter here, and greener. The Palazzo Pitti is your illustrious neighbor, housing at least half a dozen remarkable museums. Behind the palace, the Boboli gardens offer a picturesque setting for a stroll. Across the Arno sits Florence's main square, the Piazza della Signoria. Relax and enjoy a cappuccino and some of the city's best people watching. Make a tour of the Palazzo Vecchia, the Loggia della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery. Great shops and restaurants abound on both sides of the river. One of our favorites is "Celestino," near the apartment in the Piazza S. Trinita.

The Vasari is located on the fourth floor of a building with an elevator. A small entrance hall gives access to all of the rooms:

• Cozy sitting room with white leather couch and armchair, TV and telephone
• Small but well equipped kitchen
• 1 spacious queen bedroom, tastefully decorated with antiques and fitted with double glazed windows
• 1 bathroom with tub/shower and clothes washing machine

The star of the apartment is its spacious, delightful terrace (200 sq. feet). It can be accessed from both the kitchen and sitting room and is decked with greenery and furnished for al fresco dining. Although the terrace does not have a view of the Arno, it is a private and pleasant place to relax with your morning coffee or to dine under the stars.
