This spacious, comfortable 18th-century house is situated in a peaceful, sunny location in the countryside outside of Modica, in the heart of baroque Sicily. An enchanting landscape of wheat fields and carob trees, edged with beautiful dry stone walls, surrounds this exclusive country residence. An unpaved road leads across the property to the masseria (ancient farm) and its adjacent tower. The masseria is quite large (almost 350 square meters), and the tower adds another 100 square meters. This is a great house for large groups of family or friends, with plenty of room to gather together both inside and out, as well as several nice spaces where you can enjoy a more private, quiet moment.

A well-maintained lawn and garden, a citrus orchard, and centuries-old olive trees create a beautiful backdrop for the very large swimming pool with hydro-massage, a solarium-terrace, and a pool house with changing room, bathroom and outdoor shower. The centerpiece of the house is the internal bagio (courtyard), paved with basole (local stone) and outfitted with elegant furniture for dining or relaxing. Tucked into a corner of the courtyard is a second, smaller swimming pool — just right for a late-night dip.

Villa Riccio has been restored to its original charm, with modern comforts added. Traditional wood-beamed ceilings are balanced with rustic yet elegant furnishings. The spacious lofted living room (140 square meters) has a large central fireplace, open on all sides so that it may be enjoyed from both the living and dining rooms. The kitchen is decorated with majolica pottery from Caltagirone and has a wood-burning oven and a fireplace-BBQ. Bedrooms are spacious yet cozy, with wrought iron beds and coordinated fabrics.
