Abruzzo is a mountainous region that also has vast stretches of sandy beaches along its eastern border. In Abruzzo, it is possible to experience an age-old Italian lifestyle that has not changed for centuries. To the west are hills that rise into the Abruzzo mountains, dotted with some of Italy’s least visited hill towns. The Abruzzo National Park is one of the most important in Europe; the Calderone, Europe’s southernmost glacier, lies at the foot of Italy’s tallest peak, the Gran Sasso. Casa Domenica is located on the third floor of a villa located near Sant’ Omero, a lively village that hosts many fairs during the summer. The mountains and the sea are both within easy reach. Rome is just two hours away, as well as the region of Le Marche. A grocery store, bakery and coffee bar are within walking distance (1 km) of Casa Domenica.
