This lovely private home enjoys a lakefront setting within walking distance of a village. It has a small private beach, a terrace over the water, delightful outdoor dining under the wisteria vines, and easy access to Arona and Stresa. Villa del Salice is an excellent choice for guests who want to be able to walk to a village.

Villa del Salice is located on the statal road, in the village of Meina, with a private garden (1000 sqm) of roses and magnolias right on the lakeshore. Sunbathe.on the large terrace that sits over a small secret harbor. The lake can be accessed from the small private beach just a few steps away. There is a small fishpond in the garden. It is not very large, just a couple of meters in diameter, but guests with small children should be aware of it (not that you would leave small children alone in a garden with direct lake access).

As with all houses in the village, there can be some noise from people and traffic. The lake road runs right behind the house, but the back of the house faces the road, and once you step into the garden, you feel like you are in a quiet little oasis. Only one room (the second floor twin) has windows facing the road.

Villa del Salice is spacious and comfortable, the perfect setting for guests who want to be within walking distance of the village centre. Just behind the villa is a good and inexpensive pizzeria, and a sport center with tennis and pool is located a few meters away. Within 700 meters you can find good grocery shops and restaurants, and you can order delicious take-out meals at the nearby gastronomic shop. A bus stop is five minutes’ walk. Two golf courses are within 10-15 minutes’ drive, with several others less than an hour away. Just 10 kilometers north is the town of Stresa. Arona is 4 kilometers south. Switzerland is just half an hour away.

Take meditative walks into the mountains or spend sunny afternoons on your private beach. Take a boat trip to the Borromeo islands. Sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing as well as excellent golfing can be found nearby. In just one hour by train or car, you can spend the day shopping in the “golden fashion triangle” of Milan.

  • 1 spacious double bedroom with king-sized bed and beautiful lake view
  • 1 twin bedroom (beds are 120cm and can not be combined); this bedroom has windows toward the road so there could be some traffic noise
  • Bathroom with tub and separate shower

Third floor:

  • 1 twin bedroom (beds can be joined as a double on request), lakeview
  • 1 bathroom with shower

All of the bedrooms have screens and fans. Because all of the bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs, we do not recommend this property for guests with walking difficulties.

Distances:

  • Arona (all services, including railroad station): 10 min by car or bus
  • Malpensa airport: 45 min-1 hr by car
  • Milan: 1 hr car or train
