Il Nido is located just outside of Lesa on Lake Maggiore. In the village you will find grocery shops and restaurants, and you can order delicious take-out meals from the Rapanello Restaurant. Lesa has a sport club with tennis courts and a swimming pool, and the beach is just two kilometers away. Halfway between Stresa and Arona, this location offers plenty to see and do. Visit the Borromean Islands, named for the family that has owned them since the 12th century. Isola Bella, the largest, has splendid gardens and the Palazzo Borromeo, where Napoleon and Josephine once slept. Isola Madre is home of the Orto Botanico, with magnificent flora and exotic birds. Isola dei Pescatori harbors an ancient fishing village with narrow streets and wonderful restaurants. Explore mountains, lakeshore villages, markets, and spas; or cross the border into nearby Switzerland. There are two golf courses within a 10-15 minute drive, and seven more less than an hour away. Milan can be reached by train in about an hour. The drive to reach Il Nido is a bit of a challenge, on a winding road of about 100 meters that goes steeply uphill. The reward is a sense of quiet and peacefulness in a private setting with spectacular views over the lake. Because the hill is quite steep, Il Nido is not recommended for young children. It is best suited for a couple, or a couple with older children. Il Nido is a modern, nicely furnished home built on two floors. Surrounded by a fenced garden and a panoramic terrace offering an open view of Lake Maggiore, Il Nido has been furnished with care. Lovely ornamental details complement the fine upholstery and linens, and brightly colored walls frame panoramic windows. Each bedroom has access to the upper terrace as well as its own en suite bathroom with old-fashioned clawfoot "slipper tub" and hand-held shower. The ground floor includes a spacious living room with a fireplace and TV. Furnishing are a combination of antiques and quality contemporary pieces. Large French doors open onto the terrace, which has been furnished for relaxed outdoor living. A separate dining room has a table that seats eight. The kitchen is small but well-equipped, with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, and a little electric oven. There is also a powder room on this level. Other amenities include telephone, ADS: high-speed internet access, CD player and a selection of tapes, satellite TV, washing machine. Upstairs you will find a bright, spacious master bedroom, with a double bed and a view of Lake Maggiore. Two additional bedrooms are furnished with two twin beds (80 cm) that can be joined on request. Each bedroom has its own en suite bath (shower over tub). Because the twin bedrooms are so much smaller than the master bedroom, Il Nido is ideal for families. Both of Il Nido's terraces enjoy breathtaking views of the lake. A variety of outdoor seating areas offer added enjoyment. There is a ferry in Stresa and a railroad station in Lesa. Please note that the train passes 250 meters from the property, downhill and separated from Il Nido by other properties, trees, and bushes. |
