Domaine de Jovelle is located in a tiny farm hamlet just off a small country road. The area offers an abundance of wildlife and interesting places to visit, including the stronghold of Bourdeilles, Brantôme ("the Venice of Périgord") and the Roman city of Périgueux. The vineyards of Bordeaux, Bergerac, and Cognac are within easy reach, and facilities for golf, tennis, horseback riding, and canoeing are available nearby. Car rentals are available at the airport or train station. A
variety of excellent restaurants, local shops, and weekly markets are found in
this region. The closest village, Vieux Mareuil (4 km), has one shop. Mareuil
sur Belle (8 km) is a larger village with a full range of services, including
a supermarket, bakery, wine shop, newsstand, bank, post office, pharmacy, two
small restaurants, and a weekly market on Tuesdays. A little further afield, Brantôme
(14 km) has shops, many restaurants, and a twice-weekly market. Choose from three
supermarkets in Ribérac (24 km), which also has several restaurants and shops,
and a famous market on Fridays. In Périgeux (43 km) you will find medieval architecture
along with gourmet treats. The nearest TGV station is at Angoulême (45 km). Fine
dining can be found in Brantôme, Campagnac-de-Belair, The house is built on two floors. On the ground floor is a spacious, open-plan living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a powder room. French doors open onto a terrace with views of the countryside and surrounding woodlands. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, each with its own modern bathroom. The double room also has Wi-Fi internet access, although it is sometimes spotty since the La Jovelle is in the countryside. The secure heated swimming pool is brand new and is shared with the owners, who live in a separate house on the property. Guests have priority use of the pool, however, and no one will use it when guests are present. As with most modern pools in France, the pool is salt treated -- no stinging eyes for children! Jovelle has central heat for year-round availability. No children under 5 are permitted. No smoking is permitted in the bedrooms. Guests with allergies should be aware that a friendly Springer Spaniel lives on the property. |
