TWO WEEKS IN POSITANO
AND THE AMALFI COAST AREA OF CAMPANIA

Day 1: Saturday
Benvenuto!  Arrive, get settled, and take some time to rest and enjoy the views.  Walk into town to find the nearest food stores, coffee bars, laundries, and restaurants. At the beach in Positano find the boat booking cabins (Lucibello and Volaviamare) and schedules and stop by the Positano Car Service to see what they offer or have a sandwich or gelato and coffee at the beloved la Zagara coffee bar in the center of town.  Schedule sunset on your terrace (this and every night).

Day 2: Sunday
Sorrento: Take the hydrofoil (1 hour by metro boat service) or a bus for a full but leisurely day exploring this famous resort town with beautiful views, shops and restaurants, a nice old town and two harbors. Choose any of the many restaurants with a terrace with sea view for lunch.

Day 3: Monday
Capri by hydrofoil (1 hour by metro service). If the Blue Grotto is open, don’t miss it, but check first, because it is often closed now due to rising water levels.  Don’t miss the Villa San Michele, and the famous little piazza. Take a walk to an area off the beaten track, such as Villa Jovis or the Belvedere Migliara.  Dinner on the beach in Positano.

Day 4: Tuesday
Naples by hydrofoil (about an hour by metro service).  Visit the old city (Spaccanapoli), where everyone will tell you not to go, but it's fantastic.  One of the most beautiful church cloisters in existence, Santa Chiara.  Also visit the deconsecrated church of San Severo for the incredible statue of Cristo Velato.  Naples is the home of pizza, so pizza for lunch is a special treat followed by a half-day at the National Archeological Museum.

Day 5: Wednesday
Car service trip to Ravello, a beautiful town high up above the Amalfi Coast. Spend the afternoon poking around the smaller, less crowded places like Cetara or the backstreets of Amalfi itself.  If you love to hike and are very fit, consider hiking steeply down from Ravello to the Amalfi Drive; some residents do this every day at least once!  We can provide you with a map with the hiking trails marked.

Day 6: Thursday
Pompeii by car service.  Your driver can help you get a local guide at the entrance gates.  Recover at home on your terrace or the beach.

Day 7: Friday
Naples by hydrofoil again to visit the upper city to see Certosa di San Martino, the Capodimonte Museum, and Villa Floridiana.  Lunch at a restaurant on the seafront, afternoon strolling along the sea and watching the shipping and shopping in the historical shopping arcade.

Day 8: Saturday
Rent a motorboat with a driver/guide to explore the coast and all the charming unpopulated little coves.  Reserve ahead for a very special dinner (with prices to match) at the famous Hotel San Pietro, of cocktails at San Pietro and dinner at one of the other restaurants listed below.

Day 9: Sunday
Positano itself - spend the day poking around this famous resort town, sometimes still described as a "fishing village".  Hike up to the cemetery.

Day 10: Monday
Long daytrip to Paestum and Herculaneum by car and driver to see the temples, perhaps an hour or two at the beach at Agropoli or return home for your beach time.

Day 11: Tuesday
The island of Ischia by hydrofoil, with a connection in Sorrento or by private boat. There's lots to see and do here, including exploring the port of Ischia itself and climbing Mount Epomeo for incredible views. The southern part of the island is less visited.  Try one of the spas that the island is so well-known for, like Poseidon.  Just make sure you are in time for the last boat home.

Day 12: Wednesday
Splurge for breakfast at the famous Hotel Syreneuse in Positano. Re-visit some of the places you only half-visited.

Day 13: Thursday:
Vesivius by car service.  Sunset on your terrace.  Night out at “Music on the Rocks,” a special disco on the main beach, with beautiful “al fresco” piano bar  terrace or at “Easy Pub,” a nice music pub located underneath the open-air bar, Buca di Bacco.

Day 14: Friday
Day off to do final shopping, rest and packing and reflect on all you have done.  Final special dinner by hired chef at home in your villa or at your favorite restaurants.

Day 15: Saturday
Check out by 10. Ciao. We’ll miss you, please come back.
